7. Home Safety

Make sure to get a smoke and carbon monoxide detector and to have a maintenance schedule to change the batteries for them periodically.  If you are in an apartment building and there is a fire extinguisher in the hallways, you may not need a fire extinguisher in the unit, but it doesn’t hurt to purchase a small one for underneath the kitchen sink.  Purchase a small first aid kit and leave it in the kitchen or bathroom.

Make sure to specify the location of all these items in your listing (home safety section) and in your binder and website. Also, make sure you provide a list of emergency telephone numbers including medical, police and fire (911).

 

Airbnb provides a personalized safety card that you can fill out online and print.  Post it on the inside of the front door.
