3. are you prepared for the commitment? 

The key to short-term hosting success is commitment.  You have to commit to make your business work, to answer that email when you are out having dinner, to offer that little extra that will make a guest’s trip that much better.

Airbnb is all about reviews and good reviews are all about commitment.  The reviews guests leave their hosts determine how well a host does on the platform.  Reviews can make or break your Airbnb business, so your main goal should always be to get that five-star review from your guests.  Anything less than five-stars is hurting your business.

You will also realize that no matter how reliable your cleaning service, you will end up having to clean a toilet more than once—and you must clean it well.  If you are not willing to do this, don’t become a host.

 

A host has to work at strange hours on weekends and holidays, and guests can and will ask the most self-evident and annoying of questions.  You must do it and answer it all with a smile.  Hosting is a choice, and if constantly dealing with all kinds of people is not your thing, it may not be the right choice for you.
