When remodelling a kitchen on a budget, it is important to try to salvage as much of the original kitchen as possible without making too many compromises.  For this remodel, we changed the countertops for marble and added a full backsplash.  We also changed the hardware and appliances, but left the original cabinets, with saved a ton and allowed us to splurge on the things that were more important to us.
