HANGING PLANTERS
DIY
These hanging planters are easy to make and will help add character and visual interest to any room. This is one of my favorite IKEA hacks so far. I really love how they helped pull the tropical moody look of my powder room together.
YOU'LL NEED
-
IKEA BRUNSTA ceiling lamp hat
-
IKEA SANDSHULT bracket
-
Cardboard cylinder (I used the outer packaging from a Scotch bottle)
-
Black and light peach paint
-
Chain
-
Real or faux plant
-
Thin, strong wire
STEP 1: Cut the cylinder to desired length using a boxcutter and sand edges.
STEP 2: Paint the outside of the cylinder black, and the inside a light peach color (or desired colors)
STEP 3: Once the paint is dry, glue the bottom of the cylinder to the top of the BRUNSTA ceiling lamp hat using a hot glue gun.
STEP 4: Cut four equal lengths of chain. Attach three chains to the lamp hat and then attach the tops to the remaining length of chain
STEP 5: Loop about six inches of wire to the top of the top chain and attach to the bracket
STEP 6: I used these faux succulents from Amazon, but you can use whatever fits your style
