5 Go-To Room Hacks
For under $200
Home improvement is generally expensive...but it doesn't have to be. Whether you are moving to a new home, trying to sell your home, or just wanting to make a change, these are my top five DIYs for an instant room transformation.
1- Painted Bathroom Tile
Before
after
No time or money for a costly bathroom remodel? Try painting the tile. It isn't difficult, and I knocked the walls out in one weekend. Check out my Instagram story highlight on how I did it step by step.
2- consider the closet
Before
after
If you have a large bank of closets in a room, you can make a big impact by changing the doors. Sometimes all you need is a little bit of paint and some new hardware to completely transform the look and feel of a room. See what I did to these closet doors here.
3- Board and Batten
Before
after
Putting trim on a wall is my new obsession. It is etremely easy, even on plaster and oh, the instant gratification! It completely transforms the look and feel of a room. Check out my basement craftroom feature wall and how I did it from start to finish.
4- statement lighting
Before
after
Do not underestimate the transformative power of good, dramatic lighting. This room was huge and looked stark and unfinished. Inspired by a post on Pinterest, with a little help from my friend, I had these cut to fit the high ceilings in this room. Follow my step-by-step DIY on how we made these wood light pillars for less than $200.
5- wall decals
Before
after
Decals should be used sparingly, but in the right hinads they can be magic. I wanted this laundry room to be a little more fun, so I added these cute decals. It took me a weekend and a year later I'm still in love with the results.
